We protect the cultures, people, landscapes and biodiversity of Tanzania through improved livelihoods and conservation. Thanks to our generous donors, the Dorobo Fund supports and funds many grassroots efforts that promote social, ecological and economical sustainable growth in Tanzania. These initiatives are carried out by the Ujamaa Community Resource Team.
Local people are key to making the development process successful. In hard-to-reach places, it can be the hardest to be a girl. Educating a girl has a resounding impact on household health and economic wellbeing. In East Africa, water-borne illnesses are common. This blog started when Steve and I were accepted as volunteers with AVI-VSO for a placement in Tanzania beginning July 3rd 2010. I am now returning for a second 12 month placement. Welcome to Emanyata Secondary School. Emanyata Secondary School is a community owned school. Located in the small village of Ololosokwan, in Northern Tanzania, bordering the Serengeti National Park. The School was founded in 1992, and was the first secondary school to be built in Ngorongoro District, one of the poorest and most remote areas of Tanzania.
